The Power of the Eyes

Self confidence is said to be a child’s passport to a lifetime of mental health and social happiness. Today the average person checks his or her phone 150 times a day! Sadly, we’re making less eye-to-eye contact. According to researchers at Cambridge making eye contact with an infant their brainwaves ‘get in sync’ with each other – supporting communication and learning. It is the strongest form of non verbal communication (Psychology Today). Before our girls are cast by the spell of social media let’s start making direct eye contact with them and encourage them to do the same! If they’re older it’s not too late.

My DIA’s top 3 ways a girl with great eye contact skills has an edge in the future

  1. More powerful – professional negotiations
  2. More qualified, skilled, competent, and valuable – job interview
  3. More trustworthy, honest, and sincere – maintaining lasting, healthy relationships.
